Tributes Gallery Release

Another week; another tribute release! I know I’m a bit late in writing about this, but I haven’t had any time to be online lately now that I am back studying. Aside from that, this release was decent, some questionable items, some winning pieces. I really liked the advertisement, it gave a perfect image of what the store would be selling, and left viewers curious for more – myself included!

Upon entering the store, I was blown away by the interior – simply stunning. Marble and white truly is on par with this years’ trends, and would suit a wide demographic of buyers. Additionally, the interior allows for the items to stand out against the backdrop, drawing your gaze inwards. There were four brands for sale, each with three distinct pieces. Aquazzura, Louboutin, Sophia Webster, and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes adorned the shelves. I was so excited to see three new brands, while they didn’t attain their own tribute store, they did have items available. Let’s do an item/brand breakdown. The Aquazzura items are great, I particularly love the last two. The pom pom heels are totally up my ally, and the gorgeous pink boots would suit so many buyers style. I’m slightly conflicted on the first pair however, a little bit too ‘busy’ for my liking – I am a fan of simple yet classic shoes. Overall, however, I was very impressed. Secondly, Louboutin. Louboutin has had its own dedicated tribute store in the past, however it was kind of a flop – I think releasing just three pairs was a smart move on Stardolls’ part. I really love the first pair, clean and simple with a pop of a bright blue colour – amazing. The second pair is a set of sneakers for the male dolls, also in the fun blue colour seen in the first pair. The final pair gives me a ‘dominatrix’ vibe, maybe because of the insane heel, height, and thin straps. A nice classic black colour, we know these shoes will prove to be a hit amongst the Stardoll community. Third featured is Giuseppe Zanotti, which I adore in real life. I do feel like the pieces released however don’t really reflect the vibe normally given off for this brand in real life. I do like the first pair of fluffy (?) strapped heels, but I know they won’t be to everybody’s taste. Another pair of male sneakers, which was super nice to see, however, I think a different style of shoe for the male dolls wouldn’t have been too much to ask for. A black lace up bootie normally doesn’t appeal to me, but the third pair featured is passable – not really my style though. Finally, Sophia Webster. I love these three pairs! They truly represent the Sophia Webster brand, evident in the use of butterfly detailing. The shape of the shoes is minimal and dainty, super feminine. My top pick of the three is certainly the third pair – a thin black strappy heel with small details, you cannot go wrong.
My only criticisms for the release are: one, I wish a pair of androgynous, unisex style shoes, like sneakers, were made available for female dolls. Two, I wish it was more than one floor – Stardoll has been killing this tribute season, so I wish this release was slightly on the same level as all of the other stores. But that’s it! I think this release was quite beautiful overall, and did cater for a wide variety of styles. I do hope there’s a few more tributes in the coming weeks!

The Colour Series: Ready For Red

Welcome to the first post of my ‘colour series’! For this week’s edition, I take on red. I absolutely love the colour red, it’s vibrant, exotic, and emits a powerful vibe. When styled together, red pieces can be overpowering, but when styled in a way which makes them the lone stand-out colour, the look is transformed. When styling red items, you really have unlimited freedom; it complements many colour combinations. However, I truly love when red is placed alongside darker hues, adding a great pop to the look. Personally, I love pairing red with black, navy, white, and grey; especially navy – but not the navy and red as popularised by One Direction circa 2012. As seen above, I have created four looks, each of which represent my own personal style. Red is such a stunner of a colour, I wish more dolls would be daring enough to wear it – you honestly cannot go wrong. I especially recommend pairing red with denim, particularly if you wish to be more casual with your look. Denim is my favourite textile by far, and everything goes - red especially. So, give red a go!
