Lace Up Challenge #5

As requested by the gorgeous doll Orpul-Is-Me9, I have tackled one of the hardest shoes to style, Stardoll Feat. Frankieiz12 Clear Boots. These boots were inspired by the Yeezy clear boots which started a trend, I can almost guarantee it. While they really aren’t my taste, I bought them a few weeks ago to try to think outside of the box. While you can style these boots as they are – clear, I have also supplied images of how using socks & stockings alters the boots, giving you much more variety. White socks in particular create an awesome illusion of white boots – so if you’re unable to find any boots, just layer some socks underneath as an easy alternative.
For my specific styling of these boots, I wanted to create a look which was lush with detail, in a way where discrete shoes would be need to be used. A gorgeous purple skirt from the latest LE collection was just the right piece for my vision. To complement, I added a graphic tee, which is detailed with pastel colours. Underneath, I layered the amazing Fendi white blouse to create a long-sleeved effect. While you can barely see the boots against my background, this look turned out better than I had hoped.

Hot Item!

I haven’t been as interested in HotBuys lately, as the releases really don’t suit my style, and they usually are a bit expensive. However, recently these teal heels were released for 16sd’s, quite pricey I know, but I feel that they have some potential. The heels certainly aren’t usually what I’d buy, but I felt that an edition of ‘Hot Item’ was well overdue. The straw bags and green kimono were not my taste at all, and the kimono in particular cost nearly 40sd’s; hence the delay in me posting this kind of article.
A teal, seafoam green colour can be on the challenging side of styling, for me anyway, but I feel that the colour would work really well as a stand-alone piece against whites or blacks. Original Future released these cute HotBuys 'poison ivy crossover heels' costing 14-16sd. They style is a bit classic, and I haven't seen too many people wear them; regardless, I think they're alright, it's just the colour I'm a bit iffy on. I think I'd really love these shoes in real life though!

Bodysuit Beauties

Bodysuits truly are an amazing asset to have in your closet – not only are they versatile, they are also formfitting. For today’s post, I have decided to style three amazing bodysuits! The first is from Trails, the second from Subcouture, and the final bodysuit is from the Saint Laurent release. Each piece has a different ‘vibe’ which I wanted to emulate in my style. The palm trees on the first bodysuit understandably gave me ‘beach babe’ vibes. Being a dark item, I felt that some colour was necessary, hence these gorgeous, orange LE pants. To create some consistency, I added some black accessories; a handbag, and wide-brimmed hat. To me this look screams 'I'm a sun-protection junkie but still a beach babe!'.
A bodysuit from Subcouture most definitely would be a bit more unique and ‘hipster’ – which is certainly what I feel this piece is. To follow the ‘hipster’ vibe, I layered a slip dress on top, which was a huge trend earlier this year. As the bodysuit is very loud on its own, I added some very minimal nude heels to complete the look.
Finally, a stunning piece from the latest Saint Laurent Tribute. Sexy and erotic in design, I wanted to tone this down and make it slightly more daywear appropriate, so I paired it with some awesome denim jeans. To add a pop of colour, red shoes and a red flower choker was a great addition to the look overall.

Saint Laurent Tribute

Week three of tribute season saw the release of the Saint Laurent Inspired Tribute. Personally, I was hoping for something a bit more new and exciting, perhaps a brand which has never been featured before, but I’ll survive I suppose. I felt like the ad for this release reflected the theme really well. For me, this release is mildly representative of an erotic and sultry design; evident in the use of lace, sheer materials, tight clothing, leather, chokers. In contrast however, a lot of the pieces are glittery. Whether the contrast between blinding glitter and sultry sheer lace is intentional, I really like it. I feel like this collection will be quite popular, a lot of the pieces are quite trendy, not so much versatile, but in-trend for sure. While the pieces are not versatile in silhouette, they are arguably more versatile due to their monochromatic colour palette, which certainly would appeal to a wider audience than the Gucci Tribute for example. With three floors and thirteen looks to choose from, we were spoilt for choice. Some of the pieces are standout items for me, and others simply not my style. The interior is very minimalist, yet super chic, almost futuristic. The background certainly allows the clothing to be emphasised further.

On the first floor, many of the pieces speak to me; I particularly love the lace top and jean combo, as well as the glittery long sleeve top. The first floor looks each complement each other, creating a harmonious monochromatic look. A pop of colour is added into the mix on the second floor as seen on the blue dress, and red accessories. Following the glittery-material-theme, more intricate items are present, including a gorgeous two-piece midi skirt and top. I really love the black dress as well, super eighties puffed sleeve, but styled in such a modern and contemporary way. The third floor introduces what I assume is faux leather? Some really nice pieces are also found on this floor, such as the coat, and two jackets. Also, a stunning lace dress on the first mannequin, which is easily my favourite piece of the whole collection. A few pieces which were a total miss for me were the boots – they remind me of 2000’s Bratz Doll boots, all tea no shade. I wish more shoe options would’ve been made available. Secondly, the blue dress, I think it’s the ruffled texture which throws me off, I’ll wait to see how others style it before I commit to buying. Finally, the leather skirt on the third floor, while the matching jacket is a standout piece, the skirt is just not for me – again I think it’s the ruffles.

Finally, here is the looks that I created with the items from the Saint Laurent Tribute. I ended up buying quite a bit, even items which weren’t so appealing so I could challenge myself to style them.
What did you think of this release? Worth it or totally predictable?

Callie's Picks Decor

Callie’s Picks – an ode to tributes. The release of Callie’s Picks often goes ignored by many, including me, it just never hits the mark for me. Being an old tribute décor release I got quite excited, but yet was left mildly disappointed. For me, the room has no consistency, the items don’t all complement each other – especially that folding shade, girl bye. I was rooting for your Callie, we were all rooting for you! While there are some items which are sought after, such as the Chanel shopping basket, the dog, and couture kitty, they are all seriously overpriced. Thirty-something stardollars for the Chanel basket, no thanks. I mean, come on people. The Oscar De La Renta shirts released, boring. All of the items, I personally found them mildly underwhelming. I get it, tribute stuff is limited, but majority of these items aren’t in high demand to my knowledge, so do they need to be priced so sporadically? The interior was nice, I’ll give them that, but for 36sd with my 10% off Royalty discount, come on Callie…I don’t have high expectations for Callie’s Picks ever, but if you’re going to do a throwback on tribute décor, make me look at the items and go ‘wow that is something I need’, ‘oh yes, I’ve been looking for this item everywhere’. If you liked this release, that’s cool I’m not dragging your opinion, you go rock those items in your suite, but for me personally, this was a let-down as I have higher expectations for this tribute season.

Lace Up Challenge #4

A lovely pump for today’s Lace Up Challenge - Voile sweetheart tip sheer heels. I used to be obsessed with these heels about three years ago. A gorgeous shade of purple, these pumps are a statement piece. Nowadays, these remind me of the Gianvito Rossi Plexi pumps, which are a very similar style. Due to their colour, I chose to pair the shoes with clothing items which I thought would complement and enhance the effect.  This is the look that I came up with; pink and purple, girly galore. The new Gucci sheer top with a pink pussybow was perfect when paired with my Fever Pucci inspired skirt. As the skirt has blues and pinks, I felt that this would suit the pumps just right. Overall, this is a nice look I think and the shoes work in harmony with the items selected.

Playful Prints

I love all kinds of patterns and prints, so me writing a post about them was well overdue. Fun prints come in a variety of forms, clothing, accessories, shoes etc. Prints can be tough to style, especially when paired with colours – but here I show you how I would style some of my favourite printed pieces alongside colour.

Firstly, the ever so stunning Gucci skirt. My doll has been wearing this look since the store was released, I am absolutely loving it. This skirt is quite 'busy' on its own so I didn’t want to overwhelm the look by adding additional prints. Instead, I used items which would complement the colours of the skirt – helping to make the skirt the main focal point of the look. Reds, whites, golds, and blacks all heighten the look overall, which I am very pleased with.
A Japanese inspired print on a quirky peplum skirt, it’s none other than Antidote. This gorgeous print was also used on a dress, which sadly sold out before I could get my hands on it, but instead I snatched up this piece. Following the logic applied in the previous look, I wanted to use colours which would complement those already present in the skirt, as it is quite an eye-catching piece on its own. A crisp white blouse directs the eye straight towards the main piece. Using these awesome LE floral sock heels, the yellow and pink colours were accentuated in the overall look. While the sock heels are quite ‘busy’ on their own, when paired with a skirt of similar colours the look isn’t made too overwhelming.
A red and white striped bag from Runway is quite a tall order to style, but I think I pulled it off with this look. I wanted the bag to be the main focal point of the look, to do so I used similar red and black colours which complement those seen in the bags print. The bag is such a quirky shape, so I feel that on my doll adding more quirky items would become a bit too much.
Finally, a polka dot dress is a great beginners item when using prints and patterns. Very easy to style with some simple heels and some sunglasses, this look would be complete. However, to spice it up a bit I paired it with some baby blue booties and the newest Fendi backpack, which has red and blue colouring in the flower details.

So, prints aren’t so scary after all. I encourage you to style with prints and see how you get on. Mixing prints, clashing patterns are all super on-trend right now, when done correctly. Give it a go.

New Store: FY!

A new store released this week, unrelated to tribute season, but I think it’s a permanent store. FY! popped up in my messages this morning, so naturally I went to check it out. The advertisement didn’t really give any clues as to what this store would be stocking, but I assumed probably accessories. However, this store is really random, some homewares decorate the floor, while accessories line the walls. For the sake of this review I bought a few pieces to see if they were easy to style etc. In the end I bought five accessory items, some of which I am impressed with, others I think are kind of boring. First, I purchased this navy glittered over-the-shoulder bag. The bag came in two other colours I think, but I preferred the navy as I don’t own much like that currently. I like it, I think it’s quite cute. Being quite glittery I expected it to be the worst piece to style, but actually it was quite easy. Contrary to what I initially thought, the bag would look nice styled both in casual and formal ways. Second, I picked up a metallic snakeskin backpack. Backpacks are hard to style on Stardoll, often bulky and are not my favourite. However, I really like this piece – the texture and print offer something unique. I particularly love the iridescent look, almost as if it is genuinely reflective. Next, I styled these amazing sunglasses, and marble clutch. A pair of glasses were the first thing I picked up, I think they were only 5-6sd, an absolute steal! The green and pink shades on the lenses are stunning and so trendy, I chose to style these with a pink glittery dress. Styling this dress down, I added black accessories; boots, belt, and clutch. The clutch is okay, I mean it’s nothing wow, but if you're into the whole marble trend, you will enjoy the look of the clutch. The last accessory I picked up was a teal necklace. So disappointed with this. The teal colour is nice, but the necklace is the obligatory starcoin item of the bunch, and it’s just not that great. At 135sc, starcoin paying members deserve better, not some coloured block on a chain? Sell some nice sunglasses, or a clutch, not some random necklace. Now, if you like this item, awesome! But I just expected so much more and I feel that the non-paying members of Stardoll deserved something of as good quality as the stardollar items. I won’t really be styling the item anytime soon.

In terms of décor, I only picked up these two items. However, I actually quite liked the home accessories on offer – they were hip, and fun. I really loved the look of the albino lion print, so I just had to purchase it. The print is such a lovely baby pink colour, and would look pretty nice in many room styles. Also, I saw these skin oil bottles, which were starcoin priced, hoorah. As disappointed as I was over the starcoin necklace, I was happy with this option. They are cool, minimalist, and also quite versatile overall I’d imagine.
Overall, the release was pretty decent. I still think it’s a little bit random, but I feel like it represents an indie store which you occasionally see in real life. It's eclectic and youthful, providing items for a demographic who wish to follow the more 'hipster' trends. An alright release I think, I'll wait for another release before I develop any solid opinion however.

Working With White

White, white, white, a wardrobe essential. Items that’re white can add an amazing sense of crisp sophistication to any look; or they can complement the colours already utilised aiding in them standing out more. I love white, which is evident through my continuous styling of plain white blouses, turtlenecks, and t-shirts. White pieces should be one of your best friends when it comes to a perfect closet for styling. Here I have styled some of my top white picks three different ways; using a hat, blouses, jogging pants, a neck tie, and shoes. White looks good with many things and creates a great backdrop when adding splashes of colour. I particularly love white with denim, it’s very timeless and quite classic really. One of my favourite colours to wear currently is orange, which I have used for my first styling; bright oranges and vivid blue hues work wonderfully against the stark white. Similarly, in the second look I have also used pops of colour against white with hopes that the look overall is more eye-catching. A stunning men’s Gucci jumper with rainbow colouring is perfect when paired with denim, white pants, and some cool heels. The third look is slightly more ‘toned down’, with white being the focal point. The clean white blouse and shoes enhance the distressed texturing on this gorgeous denim skirt, and the neck piece just adds some extra flair.
So, do make sure you have plenty of white in your wardrobe, you never know when it just might make a look a bit more special!

Lace Up Challenge #3

It's about time I brought out a whacky shoe - the Tingeling Sorbet Layer Wedge. I have never worn this shoe, I have always found it impossible to style. Being a wedge platform/flatform...actually I'm so stuck on what this is...anyway, it's always been a nightmare to style - so I gave it go this time. This shoe has been collecting cyber dust in my closet for years, you hear me, years. I decided to style it with another orange piece, which funnily enough I also struggle to wear, an embellished Gucci bodysuit. The bodysuit does all of the talking in my opinion, it's intricately detailed and has a bright nature pattern. To ensure that the look didn't get out of hand, I paired the flatforms(?) and body suit with some denim. You can't really go wrong with denim. Adding the denim created a more casual look, and toned down the formal and eccentric style of the bodysuit. While I admit that this look isn't 100% appealing to me, I feel super proud that I was able to finally style these shoes - maybe I will try to incorporate them in my looks more often!

Starcoin Stunners #7

Starcoin Stunners week 7! Has it really been 7 weeks already!?
For the feature this week I followed a 'black' theme. I went with pyjama-chic, dark and Gothic inspired, and dark business realness. The second look is most out of my comfort zone, but I believe that is a good thing to try something new, and try to create something for a wider demographic. My favourite look by far is the third look. My current wig makes me feel like an 80's CEO who's just left her third husband and settled for a large payment - I'm so into it haha. Following my thoughts on the wig, I tried to create a more business look for the third style. I love how it turned out. The first look is a bit bedtime chic. These gorgeous blush pink trousers from Callie's Picks perfectly give off a relaxed vibe to me, which I wanted to further enhance by adding sultry lace, and diamond mules. The geometric clutch just adds a bit of pattern and shape into the look, making it a bit more eye-catching.

Look One: Basics turtleneck, Basics lace trim camisole, Bonjour Bizou clutch, Callie's Picks trousers, and Rivera diamond mules.
Look Two: MSTQ choker, Wild Candy sheer shirt, Vinyl dress, and Vinyl platform shoes.
Look Three: Basics blue turtleneck, Decades classic belt, Callie's Picks trousers, Velvet Orchid heels, and Free Hermes inspired bag.

Sweater Weather

Here in Australia it is currently the middle of winter, brr. While I know the cold here is basically incomparable with the rest of the worlds winter weather, for people who live in hot climates, it sure is bloody cold haha. Inspired by the season, I have decided to create some looks using my favourite ‘sweaters/jumpers’. Winter style does not have to be boring, nor does it have to be bulky and unflattering – it can be bold, bright colours, and nice silhouettes. Using this mindset, I have created four looks which play with colours, patterns, shapes, and silhouettes. My favourite of the four looks would probably be look one or two, as they are a little bit more creative and visually interesting.

OneFendi Tribute pom pom sweatshirt – 18sd
TwoStardoll Feat. Frankieiz12 long sleeve with XL arms – 23sd
ThreeSubcouture layered Subcouture sweatshirt – 25sd
FourBonjour Bizou fuzzy blush sweater – 360sc

A Headstart on Headwear

Accessories make the world go ‘round. One such accessory is headwear. Headwear includes, but is not limited to: hats, berets, beanies, headbands, scarfs, flowers – anything for decorating a head! In this feature, I show you how I have styled berets and hats. Wide brim hats totally make me think of Meryl Streep in ‘She Devil’ – a rich mistress, successful woman, power. Berets on the other hand have always reminded me of winter and a Parisian style – I think everyone associates them with Parisian to some extent. I have decided to style my hats in a high-fashion and stylish manner. How would a successful gold-digger attend her husband’s funeral? Like this. That’s my thought process haha. For the berets, I have created a more innocent and casual vibe. While the first, white beret, is styled super casual with double denim, the second is styled as inspired by a seventies image – browns, browns, browns. While I do not often wear hats or any headwear for that matter, I really do love and can appreciate the power of a hat when styled nicely.

Lace Up Challenge #2

Time for my second attempt, this time with the gorgeous ItGirls HotBuys Valentino inspired heels. The Valentino Rockstud heels are super popular in the real world, so it was only a matter of time before Stardoll released their own take on the stunner of a shoe. While I would've like maybe a Valentino release to allow for greater colour range, these shoes are lovely. Being a nice orange colour, they aren't too versatile, however, are an eye-catching summery accessory. I decided to pair these heels with a colourful skirt, to aid in complementing the vivid orange - I think it worked quite nicely! I adore this skirt, it's by Gucci, and you can find it in the starbazaar any day pretty much. It has gorgeous sheen to it, detailed with golds, blues, and reds - it's simply chic. I didn't want the look to be too extravagant, so I finished the look off with this white blouse from Callie's Picks. Being a crisp white, this adds a nice contrast to the stark bright colouring on the lower half. Overall, I think this styling was quite successful!
Side note; I am totally loving this challenge, so I will try to make it a twice-weekly occurrence on my blog, probably on Tuesdays and Saturdays (Australian).
