Week three of tribute season saw the release of the Saint Laurent Inspired Tribute. Personally,
I was hoping for something a bit more new and exciting, perhaps a brand which
has never been featured before, but I’ll survive I suppose. I felt like the ad
for this release reflected the theme really well. For me, this release is mildly
representative of an erotic and sultry design; evident in the use of lace,
sheer materials, tight clothing, leather, chokers. In contrast however, a lot
of the pieces are glittery. Whether the contrast between blinding glitter and sultry sheer lace is intentional, I really like it. I feel like this collection will
be quite popular, a lot of the pieces are quite trendy, not so much versatile,
but in-trend for sure. While the pieces are not versatile in silhouette, they are arguably more versatile due to their monochromatic colour palette, which certainly would appeal to a wider audience than the Gucci Tribute for example. With three floors and thirteen looks to choose from, we
were spoilt for choice. Some of the pieces are standout items for me, and
others simply not my style. The interior is very minimalist, yet super chic,
almost futuristic. The background certainly allows the clothing to be
emphasised further.
On the first floor,
many of the pieces speak to me; I particularly love the lace top and jean
combo, as well as the glittery long sleeve top. The first floor looks each complement
each other, creating a harmonious monochromatic look. A pop of colour is added
into the mix on the second floor as seen on the blue dress, and red
accessories. Following the glittery-material-theme, more intricate items are
present, including a gorgeous two-piece midi skirt and top. I really love the
black dress as well, super eighties puffed sleeve, but styled in such a modern
and contemporary way. The third floor introduces what I assume is faux leather?
Some really nice pieces are also found on this floor, such as the coat, and two
jackets. Also, a stunning lace dress on the first mannequin, which is easily my
favourite piece of the whole collection. A few pieces which were a total miss for me
were the boots – they remind me of 2000’s Bratz Doll boots, all tea no shade. I
wish more shoe options would’ve been made available. Secondly, the blue dress,
I think it’s the ruffled texture which throws me off, I’ll wait to see how
others style it before I commit to buying. Finally, the leather skirt on the
third floor, while the matching jacket is a standout piece, the skirt is just
not for me – again I think it’s the ruffles.

Finally, here is the
looks that I created with the items from the Saint Laurent Tribute. I ended up
buying quite a bit, even items which weren’t so appealing so I could challenge
myself to style them.
What did you think of
this release? Worth it or totally predictable?

Ahhh!! I love that you love the YSL Tribute! I'm such a huge fan of this for the exact reasons you mentioned - I love the contrast of the lace and glitter, and the monochromatic palette just speaks to me. Again, I'd really recommend google-ing Stardoll's Most Wanted and checking out the recent YSL Tribute competition! There are some stunning outfits in that tab that I think you'd love.
ReplyDeleteOut of your stylings, the 3rd one was by far my favorite. It's not only elegant and classy, but also shows off your personality. Stunning! I was looking forward to this post so much, and it definitely lived up to my expectations! Keep up the amazing work
